Dear Families and Friends of Valley Forge Classical Academy,

2023 was a busy year for the Board of Trustees of VFCACS! Applications, resubmissions, curriculum alignments, board hearings, fighting the false narratives of those who would block school choice in Chester County, and keeping focused on our end goal of providing a high quality, challenging academic program for children and parents has certainly kept us busy!

If all goes as expected, the Board will, once again, vote to deny the charter. At that point, all who are interested in ensuring a successful end to our endeavors, especially our parents, will be asked to gather AT LEAST 10 signatures on the petition forms that we will circulate soon. You can gather signatures from neighbors, friends, coworkers, business aquaintances and others you may know, or who your friends and acquaintances know! Anyone who resides or owns property in the West Chester Area District, is eligible to sign! These petitions will then be submitted to the State Charter Appeals Board for a hearing.

In order for an appeal to be scheduled, we MUST gather a MINIMUM of 1000 verifiable signatures within 60 days to attach with our hearing request. That means that we actually need anywhere from 1500-2000 signatures as an “insurance policy”, because they will scrub the list of any names that are not completed correctly or are not deemed legible. While we do have 60 days, it is imperative that we accomplish this task in 30 days, to keep on schedule for opening the school in the Fall. Any application for a hearing later than the end of February, puts us in jeopardy of not being able to open in time for the 2024-25 school year.

In addition, we are planning multiple “signing events” for the WCASD community where folks can walk-in to sign petitions, and a marketing campaign to spread the word about VFCACS.
We are committed to seeing this through, but we need YOU. Working together, we can make this school a reality for your kids!
